Artist's Biography
Biography of Cindy vincent
Cindy Vincent's love of painting began at an early age. Intrigued with the beauty around her, Cindy was compelled to capture "bits and pieces" with her brush. It was natural then for her to join writer and long time friend, Diane Culling, in creating a children's story book that would capture the essence of their surroundings.
For her work on "Autumn Bear," Cindy was long-listed for the 2007 Canadian Librarians Association Amelia Frances Howard Gibbon Award, which is presented to an outstanding illustrator of a children's book published in Canada.
Cindy is currently collaborating on a second book with Culling on Northern winter resident birds. But her strength in media runs deeper than print; she has also done illustrations for a children's television program with APTN called, "Tiga Talk."
Cindy's interests are moving toward a variety of time-honoured techniques in creating hand pulled prints, such as etching, wood engraving, and lino cuts.
Cindy's paintings are found in private collections throughout Canada, as well as the United States, Britain and Holland. She is a featured artist in the 2009 Art of the Peace magazine, and was awarded 2nd place in the 2008 Juried Art Show for her piece "Rivers Edge.".
